Sunlight of the Spirit has been bringing the 12 step recovery community together in York, Pennsylvania for decades. By 2025, the conference reached its 28th year, reflecting a long-standing tradition of service, fellowship, and consistency.

From the beginning, the structure has remained true to the spirit of AA conferences. The weekend includes multiple speakers from across the country, Al-Anon participation offering the family perspective, and time set aside for fellowship through shared meals and informal gatherings. The goal has always been to keep the conference accessible and welcoming to all.

Over the years, Sunlight has grown beyond a local event. By the early 2000s, it was already drawing nationally recognized AA speakers and becoming part of the broader conference circuit, while still maintaining its grounded, approachable feel.

The conference has consistently been held in York, PA, typically in a hotel-style setting that allows for a full weekend experience. That consistency, both in location and format, is part of what has made Sunlight of the Spirit a trusted and familiar gathering for many in the recovery community.
